It’s kind of surprising that I’ve never been to Library Way before: I’m a bookish person who has visited the NYPL a number of times, and I’ve worked no more than half a mile away from the spot for the last five years. But that’s what this blog is for, right? It’s already doing its job: making me go to places I’ve always meant to go to.

"...the reading of good books is like a conversation with the best men of past centuries" --Rene Descartes

Enter from Madison Avenue and you’ll see the huge Stephen A. Schwarzman building of the New York Public Library looming over the short block. Set into the sidewalk are plaques displaying quotes about reading and writing from famous authors and works.

A nice lead-in to a visit to the NYPL, but probably not worth going out of your way for if you’re not already in the neighborhood.
